WD Carroll Elementary celebrated Down Syndrome Awareness Day with a celebration and parade. Students wore yellow and blue as part of the celebration, and Kendrick Chavez handed out suckers to students and lead the school wide parade.

Spring into Reading Family Learning Event took place at Carroll Elementary School and La Escuelita Pre-school.
This event was based on the book If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond.
Students, parents, and staff played games, learned about bees and flowers, made crafts, and ate pancakes.

THE DISTRICT of Bernalillo Public Schools was visited by two members of the REAL McFarland, USA. Johnny Samaniego and Thomas Valles spoke to students, at BHS, BMS, and SDMS, about their experiences in middle and high school, where they were cross country state champions. Their story led to a 2015 Disney film named McFarland, USA.

BMS Fitness Fun Day on Saturday, March 11th was a huge success. The Duke City Gladiators came to work out and play sports with the students. Superintendent Montano and a Gladiator had a push-up contest, and we think the Superintendent won.

Congratulations to Rubi Beltran-Ruiz for placing 1st at the Bernalillo Public Schools Spanish Spelling Bee. Rubi is a third grade student in Mr. Cervantes' class at Bernalillo Elementary.
THE DISTRICT of Bernalillo Public Schools celebrated National School Breakfast Week with a visit from Eddie Longoria, Director of Special Nutrition Programs at the USDA. Mr. Longoria, along with the NM PED Student Success and Wellness staff visited classrooms at Bernalillo Elementary School. Superintendent Montano and Mr. Longoria handed out healthy breakfasts and joined students in a morning workout.
