Dear families,

Welcome back to a new school year!

Our big news is that we have received the test results from last spring and our elementary students have gone up 22.2% in math and 7.4% in reading. This is a major achievement and as a result Santo Domingo Elementary has made our Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) target as set fourth by the state!

Congratulations students, staff and parents!

This year we will continue to work on making our school the best in the district. To achieve this goal:

· This summer, our teachers have attended Response To Intervention training to help all students and will participate in professional learning communities (goal teams) to study how we can improve student learning,

· Our janitorial staff has worked hard to clean and maintain all of our buildings and classes to provide a healthy and comfortable environment for us all,

· Our office staff has worked very hard to put together registration packets, enter class information and assist parents,

· Our families will help students get a good nights sleep, have a good breakfast and do their homework,

· and finally we would like to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Shannon Vasquez, who is eager to work with us all to achieve our goals.
